“Every day at Highland is a sweet day. Connecting with the children is truly precious.” – Ms. Tomo

Originally drawn to Highland in pursuit of a Montessori position after earning her AMI Montessori certification, Ms. Tomo quickly fell in love with the welcoming atmosphere. She loves the enduring nature of the community, where people stay and grow together.

For Ms. Tomo, the children are the highlight of her day. She cherishes their sweet greetings in the morning. Beyond the classroom, she enjoys reading and savoring coffee.

Hailing from Sapporo, Japan, Ms. Tomo pointed out some interesting similarities between her hometown and Milwaukee. Notably, both cities share the distinction of being beer cities and are situated at the same latitude!

Her connection to the community is palpable, and her unique perspective enriches the Highland experience. With a heart full of compassion, Ms. Tomo embodies the essence of Highland.

“Being with the kids at Highland is like tapping into a vital life force, filling a missing piece in my energetic being. This is my happy spot.”

-Ms. Cece

Her connection to Highland runs deep, starting when her daughter became a student in 2003. What began as volunteering evolved into a full-time position in 2007.

After a  brief hiatus from Highland, her heart ultimately brought her back to Children’s House, her original love. The vibrant energy of the kids keeps her rooted at Highland. “Being with the kids at Highland is like tapping into a vital life force.”

Outside of Highland, Ms. Cece finds solace in travel, outdoor activities, and the joys of cooking. Ms. Cece has an infectious enthusiasm for life, she is another one of the humans that make Highland, Highland.
